The Murder Show by Matt Goldman

The Murder Show by New York Times bestselling author, Matt Goldman, is one stellar thriller you won’t want to miss!

Fortyish TV writer Ethan Harris had a hit with The Murder Show, a television crime drama featuring a private detective. But now the network has put the show “on hold” until it can be determined if it will be renewed for another season or canceled.

Ethan decides this is the perfect time to head back to his hometown in Minnesota, visit his parents, and hopefully, come up with fresh ideas for The Murder Show. A new twist might just get the show renewed and save his job.

When he hits town, he hooks up with his friends he hasn’t seen in 22 years. Back then they were all teenagers – a tight group of friends regularly hanging out together.

One of them was Ro Greeman. She was never his girl, but he always had a “crush” on her. Ironically, they are both still single – he, a writer for a crime show, and she, now a top-notch police officer! Marty Mathis, who was considered a “bad egg” in high school is also on the police force – my how things have changed.

But when Ro and Ethan get together for old time’s sake, he realizes she has more than just “reminiscing” on her mind. Like everyone else in town, she knows about Ethan’s involvement in The Murder Show. It doesn’t take her long to bring up a tragedy that happened when they were teenagers: Ricky O’Shea was part of their group. A young kid doing well – nice car and money to flash, thanks to a wealthy and generous uncle.

But one night Ricky was killed by a hit and run driver – a driver that was never caught. Was the driver intoxicated? Was it an accident? Or did he intentionally mean to hit Ricky? A cold case from 22 years ago – and still as cold as the morgue itself.

And Ricky is still weighing heavily on Ro’s mind. When bad things like that happen, it never goes away – not the hurt, not the questions, not the lack of justice. Even before Ethan arrived, Ro was, unofficially, looking for answers.

Reluctantly, Ethan agrees to help Ro investigate Ricky’s cold case. After all, it might be the new pitch he’s looking for to save The Murder Show. But as Ro and Ethan investigate, it doesn’t take long for them to become targets. Suddenly, this cold case is hotter than hell!

Ricky’s death has Ethan circling back to his group of high school friends. And now he’s beginning to wonder if one of them played a role in Ricky’s demise. But who can he trust? Who’s playing it straight with him? Who’s conning him? Lies surface, stories don’t match, and a deeply buried crime of the past seeps slowly back into the present with deadly consequences.

The Murder Show by Matt Goldman is like a steam roller – slowly picking up speed and then rolling right over you! Expertly written with a tightly woven plot filled with “wow factor” twists and turns, makes The Murder Show a clever and delicious read!
