It’s Going To Be A Good Friday (and Saturday and Easter Sunday)

Friday: for most folks, it’s their favorite weekday, especially if they have a full-time job. Friday signals the start of the weekend, and who doesn’t love a weekend? On Monday, most of us are already looking forward to Friday!
Fridays are good, Fridays are special — but this Friday, April 18th is EXTRA special – because it truly is a “Good Friday.” While Good Friday kicks off the Easter season, it’s important that we take some time to reflect on the importance and true meaning of Good Friday. Good Friday is a day like no other. Jesus paid our bill in full when he died on the cross for us.
His suffering and eventual death was the ultimate sacrifice. But even death couldn’t keep Him down. He rose from the dead so that our sins are forgiven and peace and eternal life are ours. His life, death and resurrection was His gift to us. For this we go forward and celebrate the Easter season.
It’s also fitting that the Spring and Easter Seasons coincide so closely together. Spring brings us out of dreary winter weather, colors our trees and landscapes in beautiful blooms and give us a fresh start – a re-boot and re-birth of nature.
This is the time of year to revel in it all! To inhale the crisp spring air, to find a quiet spot and ponder this glorious Easter season. Perhaps you want to make yourself a promise to appreciate all that God and His Son, Jesus, have done for you and your family – not just during this blessed season, but throughout the entire year.
With these times being so busy and hectic – it’s easy to forget to be thankful each and every day. Ask yourself if you are spending enough quiet time to have those one-on-one talks with God. Those private talks let Him know how thankful you are each and every day for blessings both great and small.
Whether the good times are rolling or your life is filled with distress, talking daily with God is a game-changer. Why? Because those talks can bring you great comfort. He always listens and is always there for each of us.
No matter how you spend this Easter holiday, whether it be alone or with friends and family, keep it real – reality: God sacrificed His son, Jesus Christ, to save us all. Go in peace and with special thankfulness this Easter season.
