Getting Comfy With God

Sometimes we all make things more complicated than they need to be. We can get bogged down with just plain and simple every day life. We can get pummeled from an emergency that appears out of nowhere. We can be so freaked out about things going on around us, that we lose sight of what’s important, and frankly, how to stay focused and grounded.

That’s where one-on-one chats with God and personal prayers can save the day! They can help keep you on track — they can calm you down in times of great duress – they can help you take a step back and “breathe.”

It’s not always easy. but once you truly get “comfy with God,” those prayers and chats will come naturally. When you are truly “comfy with God” it doesn’t matter where you are. It doesn’t matter what time of day it is. It doesn’t matter what you’re wearing.

Getting comfy with God means as your day or night progresses, you take a break or breaks from whatever you’re doing and find a quiet space to “give thanks” or “ask for help or advice” for a tough situation weighing heavily on your mind.

When you’re really comfy with God, you’ll respond to certain situations differently. Here’s some examples:

– You dodged a drunk driver who almost took out you and your family on the highway. You pull off the road to calm down and then say an extra prayer of “thanks” for protecting you and your family.

– You’ve been struggling financially to make ends meet. You finally land a promotion or bonus to help get you back on track. Find a quiet place for a few minutes and: “say an extra prayer of thanks.”

— Your day is rough. Too much on your plate. Too much going on for you to handle. It’s ONLY NOON! Step back, focus on keeping the faith. Have an extra one-on-one chat/prayer to help you stay strong and get you through the rest of the day!

– You suffered a great loss of friend or family member. When it all becomes too much, stop whatever you are doing, find that quiet space and ask God for extra strength and guidance.

When you are comfortable in your faith and with those personal conversations and prayers with Him, positive vibes are sure to follow. A heavy heart can be lifted. A ray of hope can shine through.

It’s ok to reach out to Him multiple times a day. When you’re comfy with God, there’s no limit. There’s simply NO wrong time to stop what you’re doing to have a one-on-one chat with God and/or solid prayers. So go ahead, “get comfy” with God, anytime day or night. He is always there for you!
