Hot & Sloppy Turkey Sandwich
Here’s an E-Z recipe with only a few ingredients and sure to please the whole family. By using ground turkey you trim out extra fat/calories as opposed to beef or pork.
HOT & SLOPPY TURKEY SANDWICH
1 lb. Ground turkey
1/3 cup of diced green peppers (or a mix of red and green peppers)
1/3 cup of chopped or diced onion
your favorite barbecue sauce (I love Sweet Baby Rays Original sauce)
salt/pepper to taste
your favorite burger buns
In a large saucepan, spray with cooking spray or coat with olive oil. Saute the onions and peppers until slightly tender.
Add the ground turkey (optional: salt and pepper to taste) and ¼ cup of water. Cook on low heat, stirring frequently until turkey is ALMOST fully cooked. Add your favorite barbecue sauce until the turkey is fully coated and simmer on low heat until the turkey IS fully cooked. Taste the turkey to see if you want to add more barbecue sauce to your personal liking. To serve: Simply ladle the turkey mixture on your favorite burger burns.
Free Style this recipe YOUR way! Add more or less peppers and/or onions to your liking!
