God’s Lantern Shines Bright Through Life’s Storms

When we are blessed with sunny days, both literally and figuratively, the happy vibes abound. Our Summer sunshine brings welcomed warmth and “fun” or even lazy days outside. Our Spring sunshine brings a wealth of cooler weather, enabling plants to burst from the soil and flourish. Birds build their nests to host their new family.

The sounds and sights of Spring and Summer – FABULOUS!

But life is not so simple – it’s not meant to be. Dark days (again both literally and figuratively) are going to pop up, and a lot of times they can be just plain “ugly.” Sometimes the dark times seem never-ending, even though in the back of our minds, we know they won’t last forever.

And that’s where God’s Lantern, His beacon of light and hope, comes in! Whether it be a physical storm that has taken its toll on you and your family or a storm of bad health, rough finances or one of the many other things that can affect our quality of life and our mental state, look for the light – His light – God’s Lantern.

God’s Lantern doesn’t need a kerosene refill. It doesn’t need re-charging. It doesn’t need a lighthouse keeper to keep it steadily glowing 24/7. It can’t be extinguished – it will never go out.

When times get rough, we must remind ourselves to look for the eternal lantern of light. Daily prayer is always important. Good times, bad times – doesn’t matter. Daily prayers help us keep in touch with our faith and our beliefs. Daily prayers will help us keep grounded.

Keeping the faith and staying grounded makes it easier for everyone to stay more focused, more productive and better equipped to handle the toughest of challenges.

Today the weather here is perfect — sunny and serene with a snap of crisp, refreshing air. The sky is blue. The birds are going nuts with their chirping and singing. They are nature’s choir. God’s miracle of nature surrounds us everywhere. And this is another reason to be thankful. Beautiful plants, trees, wildlife – all “good stuff” – “good stuff” that we should never take for granted.

Cherish each day of abundant sunshine and things going well. Cherish the glory and beauty of nature and good weather surrounding us. Savor it – because, as we know, while we take life’s journey, not every day is meant to be a sunny day, not every day will be a “fun” day. Some days are bound to be dark and stormy on so many levels.

But that’s ok. Look for God’s Lantern shining brightly to guide us through those storms. His lantern will keep us on the path to safety.

Start each morning on a positive note with a morning prayer. Evening prayers are wonderful, too. Have a seat outside or gaze out the window into the dark skies, knowing that God’s Lantern, His beacon of light, will always be there, shining brightly through the darkness.
