From The Oldies Vault: It’s About Time!
Time. It marches on. It never stops. It’s relentless. But some things actually get “better” with time. Antiques are a prime example. And MUSIC! Take a step back into the oldie’s vault and reflect on these timeless classics – and yes, these happen to be all about “time!”
In the 50’s Bill Haley really kicked it off by having everyone Rock Around The Clock – then brought it back on the Billboard in 1974!
In 1968, the Association gave us their last big hit, Time For ‘Livin’. It’s seldom heard hit has great positive lyrics – and it’s catchy. One of those “pop the top” on the convertible songs as you head off for the beach!
Jim Croce wished he could capture “time.” Sadly, Croce ran out of time way too soon. Born in 1943, he died in a plane crash in 1973, the same year Time In a Bottle was released. His two other hits were released in 1974 after his death: I’ll Have To Say I Love You In A Song and Workin’ At The Car Wash Blues.
My favorite song about time: Prince’s 1999, released in 1983! An unshakable party song. It had everyone partying even harder when New Year’s Eve rang out 1999 and ushered in 2000!
