Finding Peace & Tranquility in Nature
Nature can recharge your batteries like no other. And it’s everywhere once you just step outside.
It doesn’t matter what time of year it is. It doesn’t even matter if it’s hot or cold, sunny or gloomy. No doubt about it – there’s something calming and tranquil when it comes to nature. Many folks get so busy they forget about the benefits of nature – benefits right there in front of them.
It’s just a matter of taking some quiet time for yourself outside. Pick a spot to sit and ponder…ponder nature surrounding you. At first, it may seem boring – but are you REALLY thinking about the wonders of nature? Or are you thinking “I see a bird, so what?” If so, you’re missing out! Try watching the behavior of that bird. Is it searching for food? Gathering twigs to build a nest? Perhaps it’s an unusual bird — aren’t your curious as to what it is?
Is that a rare butterfly that just landed on a nearby bush? Perhaps you should pick up a guide to identify birds and butterflies in your area. It’s a great way to appreciate nature even more and provides you with a new hobby!
And how about that squirrel? Where’s he going with that nut and why didn’t he eat it? If you’re lucky enough, you may see the squirrel scampering up a tall tree to feed newborns in their nest.
REALLY THINK about nature surrounding you. Let yourself be educated and mesmerized by birds, squirrels, bees, butterflies and all of God’s creatures out there foraging for food, nurturing newborns and using their survival skills.
And it isn’t just about the animals: It’s the fresh air. The colorful flowers poking their heads out of the ground after a rough winter. The grasses and plants perking up with color, as they lose their drab winter appearance.
These are all things to ponder and consider. Nature is truly astounding. Nature is beauty at the most simplistic level. Let yourself get caught up in it. Many health experts claim that being outdoors around nature is good for the mind as well as the body. It can bring it’s own unique form of peace and tranquility.
Next time you feel out of sorts or worried, take time to “step outside.” Find a quiet place to reflect all that nature has to give or take a stroll and enjoy the scenery!
Take it all in – imagine what it would be like IF there was only cement and steel. No grass, no flowers, no trees, no mountains, no beaches, no squirrels or birds – no nature. What a drab, cold and sterile place this would be!
And while you’re out there, don’t forget to say a quiet prayer of thankfulness for the gifts of nature that God has provided. He has provided us with an endless buffet when it comes to nature. Let it bring you comfort and peace of mind.
HAPPY SPRING!
