Morning Coffee With God
The older I get, the more I appreciate the fresh start of a brand new day.
There’s absolutely nothing better than starting your morning with a good cup of coffee or tea and having a one-on-one personal chat with God.
Watching the morning sky going from the darkness of night to that first crack of dawn, to the full-fledged morning sun is a daily miracle – the earth is still spinning and we are here to make the most of it.
Sometimes it’s not always easy to make the most of each day. Sometimes we get so busy and caught up in other things that we forget to revel in our brand new day. The start of each day lends endless opportunities – not just to getting through a day at work or handling day-to-day matters.
Each day brings opportunity to be compassionate towards others, to lend a hand to someone in need. It’s an opportunity to “do the right thing” when it comes down to tough choices. It’s an opportunity to “make a change in your life for the better,” even when the odds may seem against you. It’s an opportunity to stay strong in faith and stay positively connected to God.
Yes – the beginning of a brand new day can be exciting – a clean slate ready for you to write on for the next 24 hours. It’s “your” chance to make this day positive and productive no matter the situation you’re in or events and drama going on around you.
It’s important to stay connected in your faith and beliefs. It’s important to be thankful. Frankly, I can’t think of a better time to achieve these goals than first thing when you get up. Whether you sit out on a deck or balcony with coffee in hand, a special spot outside on a garden bench or in the comfort of your home in a cozy chair (perhaps gazing out the window), starting your morning with a prayer of thankfulness followed by a one-on-one chat with God is a guarantee your day is off to a good start.
Whatever the day may bring, you’ll be stronger and have a more positive attitude when you launch your day with your morning coffee and God. And of course, you don’t really need to have coffee or any beverage with your morning chats with God, but sometimes having coffee or soothing tea just makes it seem even more personal.
When things go haywire or get so busy you can’t see straight, take a deep breath, for God is always present. He will help you get through it. When things go well and celebrations are in order, remember to thank Him.
And here’s the thing: When you have your morning cup of coffee, think of God as that extra shot of Espresso to really kick-start your day into high gear!
