The Tides of Change
There’s an old saying: Everything changes, but everything remains the same. That’s one of those “ponderable” statements. I myself have pondered it many times while sitting outside on my garden prayer bench.
In fact, I was out there this morning with my coffee in hand, having that one-on-one private “chat” with God. Even though the trees were still leafless and dead looking, the bright blue sky screamed that change is coming – spring is due real soon!
It seems the last few years, everything is indeed, changing – not just our climate, but in our personal lives. Some good changes, some bad changes, some insignificant changes. It does seem, though, that the world is changing faster and faster. Time to grit our teeth and hold on tight!
But one thing that should never change is our faith and beliefs. When changes come, it’s important to stay strong, because let’s face it, life “can be” and “is” challenging.
Sometimes things change and/or move so fast, it’s hard to stay focused. That’s one reason those personal concrete prayers and talks with God are so vitally important. Our prayers are concrete – they are our solid, unbreakable commitment to Him. When we prayer and talk to God, He is always there – always listening. He can help us make the right decisions, He can help us heal. He can help us get through rough changing tides.
Sometimes our prayers are answered in subtle ways. Sometimes they are blatant miracles. Sometimes they take time. Sometimes the answers are quietly there, but we’re not paying attention and “miss” the answers. Yes, it can be a tricky time in our lives – but keeping the faith and being vigilant and pro-active with our personal connections to God, provides the fuel we need to get through life.
February is a “done deal.” March is “marching” in. That springtime feeling is already hitting parts of the United States, perhaps even in your home town. Time to embrace not only what spring has to offer, but what “life” has to offer.
If you’ve read my other posts, you know how important it is to find that “quiet, special place” to have those private conversations and prayers with God. Perhaps it’s a single chair or a garden bench somewhere outside. Perhaps it’s on a patio or balcony. Perhaps it’s simply a quiet room or area in your home or even a spot in a nearby park.
Try having that “talk” with your favorite cup or coffee or tea in hand. Relax. Breathe deeply and inhale the day and your life – both precious gifts from God.
Every day the tides roll in and out – just as our day begins and ends, then starts all over again. Be thankful and grateful for each day. Face change and challenges knowing God is watching over all of us.
