The Therapist by B.A. Paris

This sophisticated mystery-thriller was simply impossible to put down. I kept on reading it through breakfast, lunch and dinner and didn’t stop until I finished it – yes, it was just that good!

Alice and Leo have moved in together to start a new chapter in both their lives. She’s a freelance translator working from their home. He’s a risk management consultant on the road quite a bit. As everyone knows, a new home usually comes with some minor annoying problems. But in their case, these problems go beyond annoying – they are downright deadly.

Their new home is in a small, upscale gated community. And as Alice and Leo started unpacking and settling in, Alice becomes curious about their neighbors. Leo wants to keep his distance – he’s cautious about everyone and tells her not to “trust” anyone. Little did Alice know how “right” Leo would be!

On a whim, without Leo’s consent, she throws a party at their new home, inviting all the neighbors. The neighbors are all professionals and extremely nice and pleasant with the exception of one. But you soon realize that things are turning ominous when a mysterious stranger gate crashes Alice’s party. The funny thing is, no one else has seen him except Alice!

Alice starts bonding with some of the neighbors and on the surface it all seems perfect. But with each chapter you’ll notice flecks of oddness, slowly building up and creeping in. That’s when you know it’s just a matter of time before there’s a BOOM to the quietness.

B.A. Paris incorporates the murder of a therapist with secretive neighbors, a partner whose actions become more and more questionable, a pinch of the supernatural and so many twists and turns you just won’t be able to put this book down until you read the ending – and the ending will make you exhale, shake your head and say: WOW!

One of the best mystery/thrillers I’ve ever read – a perfect book for anyone who wants to experience a suspenseful twisting “thrill ride” from the comfort of their home. B.A. Paris has outdone herself (once again).
