Thankfulness: 24/7 State of Mind
Every morning when you wake up, do you think about all your blessings both great and small? Blessings in the past, present – and blessings yet to come in your future?
In both good times and bad times, it’s important to stay focused and count those blessings and most importantly be thankful.
Sometimes life can be overwhelming: A crazy busy life-style. Financial struggles. Sickness and health issues. Other scenarios that can become a burden. But here’s the thing. No matter what our situation, we all have things to be thankful for 24/7.
Not everyone has friends and family they can count on. If you have good friends and/or family — be thankful.
Maybe you had a medical test that showed a problem. While that isn’t good, be thankful the issue was discovered and you can go forward with treatment. Be thankful for that doctor who goes the extra mile for you.
That painful tooth that needed a root canal was a downer – be thankful you found a good oral surgeon who not only got rid of your pain, but was able to save the tooth.
Don’t forget about your plumber, electrician, handyman and other service people who you can count on to always resolve your problems – be thankful.
Sometimes we take people for granted. Be thankful on trash and recycling days that the trucks show up and workers grab your bins and haul them into the their truck. Next time you see them, take a minute to thank the driver and the crew – you may be surprised how much a simple “thank you” can make their day.
That delicious gourmet cup of coffee in your hand isn’t free. BUT for the fact that you can afford it – be thankful.
That comfortable bed, the roof over your head, the pets by your side – be thankful.
Still reading the morning paper with your coffee in the comfort of your own home? A simple routine to be thankful for.
The job you have that you’re not too keen on? Be thankful it pays the bills! And IF you’re lucky enough to love your job, jump for joy and be thankful.
For the beauty of nature surrounding you — trees, fields, wildlife, flowers, parks, hiking trails, mountains, beaches — the colorful fall foliage, be thankful.
The fact that you woke up this morning – the most important reason to be thankful.
This is the time of year – the very best time of year – to take a step back, find a quiet place and simply reflect on all your blessings. Keep your one-on-one connection with God strong by being thankful. And remember: Thanksgiving isn’t just one a day a year – Thanksgiving is 24/7, a positive state of mind.
