Take The Honey And Run by Jennie Marts

Here’s a new cozy mystery debut you won’t want to miss: Take The Honey and Run, A Bee Keeping Mystery by Jennie Marts.
Successful mystery writer, Bailey Briggs, packs up her teenage daughter, Daisy, and their dog, Cooper, and heads for the hills – literally. She’s heading for her hometown of Humble Hills, Colorado, to make an emergency visit to her beekeeping granny who raised her.
It’s hard enough being a beekeeper and honey harvester on a sprawling ranch, but Granny Bee is a 70ish senior with a cast on her foot – and that’s a real challenge. It’s Bailey to the rescue (or so she thinks)! Granny Bee and her pack of gal pals, including Granny’s two sisters, are fondly known as The Hive. And they welcome the trio with open arms.
But while Bailey is anticipating helping out around the ranch, things take a bad turn when a high profile local man is found murdered. That in itself isn’t a good thing. But when her own Granny Bee is the number one suspect, it’s downright disastrous! Granny herself and The Hive, are super quick to put Bailey on the “hot seat” – after all, with all her murder mystery writing skills, surely she’s picked up the sleuthing talent!
Granny’s good name needs to be cleared. But finding home-made honey at the crime scene doesn’t help matters – neither does the fact that Granny was seen having a heated altercation with the victim.
But with the help of her childhood best friend, plus Granny’s two meddling sisters and her computer-savvy daughter, she’s got her arms wrapped firmly around the case! And there’s no shortage of suspects. Turns out the murder victim had a way of wooing and worming money out of rich women – a slew of women, a slew of motives!
As Bailey digs deeper, more motives start popping up – and not just with women. Looks like the vic has hacked off a lot of men, too! This was a was one despicable dead dude!
Take The Honey And Run by Jennie Marts is a delightful cozy debut oozing with natural sweetness, just like Granny Bee’s home-made honey! The characters are well-molded, the plot is solid, the setting makes you want to take a trip out to the beekeeping ranch!
This is a perfect cozy for a lazy afternoon or early evening reading. Entertaining, engaging and just plain good!
