Murder Buys A One-Way Ticket by Laura Levine

Through the years (too many to count), the Jaine Austen cozy mystery series has provided us with some of the most hilarious mysteries that could only come from one woman: Funny lady, Laura Levine!

I’ve relished each and every one of her side-splitting mysteries featuring struggling free-lance writer, Jaine Austen and her very out-of-control cat, Prozac! I’ve fallen out of my chair laughing at Jaine’s outrageous parents – fondly known through their emails as “DaddyO” and “Shoptillyoudrop”.

And while I’m positively ecstatic to announce her newest release in this series: Murder Buys A One-Way Ticket, I’m also saddened to say this is the final book in this “laugh out loud/over the top” series.

But have no fear! Laura Levine (as usual), doesn’t let us down! Murder Buys A One-Way Ticket not only delivers us another twisty cozy mystery filled with chaotic humor, but also manages to wrap up this series with an ending sure to please everyone!

In this story, Jaine and her rambunctious cat, Prozac, get a “workout” of a lifetime when she lands a ghostwriting gig for Chip Miller, the owner of a chain of Muscle Factory gyms! Chip is a successful 63 year-old businessman and is loaded with dough. He offers Jaine an incredible amount of money to ride the rails with him (on his private train cars) while she ghostwrites his fitness guide book.

But Jaine soon discovers that Chip is the most spiteful and hateful man she’s ever met. His ego is so large that readers will be hoping he’s thrown off the train (while moving at top speed)! Poor Jaine! Not only is she subjected to Chip’s cantankerous rantings and egomania, but also to his dysfunctional family members who are also on board. It’s also no walk in the park for Chip’s beat-down employees and right-hand man, as they all ride the rails together.

In fact the only person on board who seems to even remotely like Chip is his fiancée, Avery, a three-time widow with a highly questionable background.

As the train leaves the station, everyone in Chip’s circle is bickering and fighting. Tempers flare. No one is having any fun on this trip except for Chip who gets his “kicks” by kicking around family and staff. But when a blatant murder occurs on one of Chip’s private railway cars, everyone on board is a suspect – and that includes Jaine!

And then the fun, just like the train, really picks up speed as Jaine and her snarky cat, Prozac, try to claw their way “off the suspect list” by flushing out the real killer.

It’s dysfunction at the junction with Murder Buys a One-Way Ticket, the last entry into Laura Levine’s Jaine Austen Mystery Series. Feel good, LOL cozy mysteries are just what we all need! And NO ONE, and I do mean NO ONE, has done it better than Laura Levine!

Even though this is her last series entry, if you’ve missed some of the other Jaine Austen Mysteries, most are still available at fine retailers and online.

We will truly miss Jaine, her crazed-cat, Prozac and Jaine’s riotous parents! Laura, you got style, you got class and boy, do you “got humor!” We will miss YOU!

Thank you for providing countless cozy mystery fans with countless hours of hysterical laughter through your impeccable series! I’ve said it many times before and I’ll say it again: the world needs more laughter, the world needs Laura Levine!
