Hot Wings & Homicide by Carmela Dutra

Hot Wings and Homicide(1)

Twins Beth and Seth Lloyd inherit their Aunt Dolly’s business, Kluckin’ Good. But this isn’t a restaurant, it’s a bright yellow food truck with a giant chicken riding shotgun! Now there’s something you don’t see every day!

If you’re looking for a cozy mystery with a solid plot peppered with humor and bantering between siblings, this is it!

In this newest installment of Carmela Dutra’s Food Truck Mysteries, we find Beth, Seth and Rylie gearing up for the Flavors of the Bay festival. Beth is still getting over being dumped by Brad, her previous boyfriend, 3 years ago. Seth is a part-time lawyer. Rylie is Beth’s BFF, also dating Seth and is the food truck’s extra employee. Together this is a trio of comic trouble, guaranteed to keep you entertained!

When the festival opens, Beth is horrified to see her ex, Brad, mulling around the festival. He’s re-invented himself as a food critic writing for the Bay Area Paper. She’s still stinging from the fact that Brad dumped her at a karaoke bar and took off with her cousin – ouch!

But tempers flair at the festival. It’s hotter than the grease in the chicken fryer, when food trucks have suspicious mishaps, and owners are accusing each other of sabotage. Hot headed, loud-mouthed Layla seems to have it in for her competition. She’s gunning for everyone, especially Kluckin’ Good!

And then it happens – nothing can kill family fun more than the discovery of a dead body in a remote area of the event!

Connor and Kaydee the event organizers, keeps the death under wraps. They are heavily invested in the festival and need to keep it going. They’ve assured everyone, including the media, that it was just an accident. But the local law enforcement knows better – and so does Beth – she discovered the body!

Suddenly all the food truckers are being mercilessly grilled by the local police – they aren’t sure it was an accident and are deeming it a “probable homicide.” They are focused on all the food trucks and their staff. Everyone is a “possible” suspect for a “possible” murder. It seems the victim was a real low-life who would stoop at nothing to get their way and line their own pockets.

Poor Seth. As a part-time lawyer, he’s going bonkers trying to keep his sister in line and out of jail. She just can’t seem to keep her mouth shut! The words “stand down” are meaningless! Giving too much info to the police can only move them up on the suspect list!

Despite her brother’s warnings, Beth can’t help herself. She’s tired of the police putting Seth and herself under their microscope. She’s got to “nose” around, determined to find the killer.

Hot Wings and Homicide by Carmela Dutra is a delightful cozy bound to keep you smiling and engaged. Nothing gives off summer vibes like a good food festival. Cotton candy, cheesesteaks, funnel cakes, tacos, fried chicken, etc. – all the food of summer we love served with two sides: humor and murder!
