I’ll Be Home For Mischief by Jacqueline Frost

It’s 10 days before Christmas in Mistletoe, Maine. The Historical Society has launched a huge celebration for the town’s 150th Anniversary.

It’s a family business for The Whites. They own the Reindeer Games Tree Farm for generations in Mistletoe. But it’s more than just a tree farm – it’s a world of Christmas that will have readers smiling (NON-stop)! It’s gift shops, holiday markets, festive games with prizes, contests, home-made baked goods and more. Holly White runs their Bed and Breakfast, giving out-of-town guests who visit Reindeer Games, a holiday experience they’ll never forget.

This year the bed and breakfast is also hosting some very elite guests: True Crime podcasters, Harvey and Tate the Great! They’ll do anything to get publicity. They’ve gotten wind of previous Christmas murders in this quaint little town and think nothing of causing chaos.

Also staying at the inn is the team for the Guinness Book of World Records! Holly’s mom is baking the world’s largest gingerbread man. The current record is a gingerbread man weighing over 1,400 pounds and she plans on beating it!

The town is honored to also host two descendants of the original founding family of Mistletoe, stone-face Violet Snow and her uppity son. When Violet was a young teenage girl, she and her family suddenly up and left Mistletoe, never to return – until now!

But when festivities get underway to unveil the giant gingerbread man, the team of the Book of Guinness World Records, as well as the townsfolk, get a holiday jolt – and it’s not from the eggnog!

Holy holly! A dead body is seriously bad for business especially this time of year! It’s yet another Christmas murder in Mistletoe, and the True Crime podcasters are having a field day! A horrified Holly is doing her own private sleuthing. She’s wondering if any of the out-of-town visitors are somehow tied to the crime. She wants to get this case “closed” before the last prestigious guest comes to town (Santa Claus).

From page one until the very end, I loved EVERYTHING about this over-the-top Christmas cozy!

Readers would be hard-pressed to find a more festive cozy mystery with all (and I do mean ALL) the Christmas bells and whistles, and a twisty case of holiday mayhem to boot! This book was so much fun, I couldn’t wait to not only solve the crime, but to find out exactly “how many pounds of flour and molasses does it take” to make that darn gingerbread man!

Three things will happen if you grab a copy of I’ll Be Home For Mischief by Jacqueline Frost: 1) You will definitely get into the holiday spirit. 2) You will double down on finding the killer 3) You’ll desperately be wanting the town of Mistletoe, Maine to be real, so you can visit it soon!

Cozy Christmas Mystery Fans should note: The entire Christmas Tree Farm Mystery series by Jacqueline Frost is one of the best ever!
