Free-Style Fruity Black Tea
Here’s a healthy and delicious free-style recipe idea for tea lovers.
Making your own fruity tea is easy and is sure to take the chill off of a wet or cold day. But even better: it adds a boost of natural vitamins (and who doesn’t want that?), And when the weather turns warm, this easy free-style recipe tastes great over ice!
This is a basic recipe – add more fruit, less fruit or other fruit to your personal liking.
In a saucepan:
2 teabags of black tea (or white or green tea)
2 cups of water
2 slices of fresh lemon
3 slices of fresh orange
3 tablespoons of orange juice
2 apple wedges, diced
a dash of cinnamon
3 tablespoons of honey
Bring the saucepan to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer on low heat for 10 minutes. Pour it into your tea cup (fruit and all) and enjoy!
TIPS: Make the tea stronger or weaker by adding more or less tea bags. Make it more or less sweeter by playing around with the honey. I prefer Irish Breakfast Black Tea, but experiment with green or white tea.
OTHER OPTIONS: add fresh pineapple or mango as a substitute for the apple or in ADDITION to the recipe.
COOL LEFTOVER TEA at room temperature then store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. It re-heats well. In fact, the longer the ingredients marinate, the stronger the taste. Served over ice, it’s perfect on a hot summer day!
GOT A CHILL? Turn the above recipe into a hot toddy by simply adding a dash or brandy. SUMMER THRILL: serve it over ice and add a dash of rum.
