Gift Ideas for Gardeners, Outdoor Folks & Nature Lovers
Here are some ideas to get a jump on your holiday gift giving for folks that love nature, gardening and/or the great outdoors:
– Put together a BOX of wildlife ornaments – foxes, raccoon, deer, squirrels, birds, etc. For an extra special nature lover, present them with a small tabletop tree decorated with all wildlife ornaments (don’t forget the lights).
– Wrap an item such as warm gloves or socks with a gift certificate to an outdoor sporting goods store so recipient can pick out what they like.
– Birdhouses: Give a birdhouse. At the first hint of spring, they’ll be ready to mount it for their feathered friends. Consider including a mounting pole.
– Birdfeeders along with a bag of birdseed will give the lucky recipient hours of fun watching assorted birds flocking to the feeder for their food fix.
– Butterfly houses can be found online – easy maintenance, and who doesn’t want to attract butterflies to their yard?
– Gardener’s Stocking: fill a stocking with soothing hand balms and lotions, gardening gloves, gardener’s hand soap, seed packets, garden snips, etc.
– Books on Gardening: Seasoned gardeners probably don’t need any garden books, but for beginner gardeners, a book might come in handy and be appreciated. If you know someone is into growing their own herbs, consider a book specifically on how to grow them and use them in cooking, etc.
– Festive birdseed balls come in various holiday shapes and sizes with hooks for easy hanging.
– Books on nature: If you know someone loves parks, a specific animal, travel, or nature artists such as Audubon, etc., consider giving a book.
– For an extra special gift: Two paid nights at “an easy for them to get to” bed and breakfast or hotel with a beach or mountain setting. Empty beaches in winter can be extra relaxing — heck, you might just want to give yourself this gift too!
FOR OUTDOOR LOVERS WHO TAKE WINTER WALKS AND STROLLS:
Warm Outdoor Clothing: mittens, gloves, scarves, warm colorful socks and hats are perfect for friends that work outside or enjoy winter strolls or activities. Check out companies that specialize in outdoor clothing or a big box retailer (for gloves and socks, be sure to know recipient’s size).
Gift Card: to a coffee shop or cafe. Nothing like grabbing a cup of cocoa or coffee to take on a winter walk or afterwards, stopping in for a holiday latte or bite. Consider pairing the gift card with mittens, scarf, socks or gloves (be sure to know the recipient’s size).
ENJOY NATURE: Take some quality time for yourself and get out there with nature. It’s a great way to de-stress amidst the hustle and bustle, especially during the holiday season.
