Our Bill Is Paid In Full
The Easter season is a very spiritual and motivational time of year – Jesus sacrificed His life for us – it doesn’t get any better than that! YES, HE PAID THE ULTIMATE PRICE – AND NOW OUR BILL IS PAID IN FULL!
Good Friday commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus and His death at Calvary. We celebrate His resurrection 3 days after His death on the cross. Easter is a time of re-birth and renewal for everyone. Spring wakes up, bursting on the scene in green glory and flush with seasonal color.
This is the time of year when stores are filled with plenty of flowers – including Easter lilies. Easter lilies were found growing in the garden after the crucifixion. It has been said that they sprung up from the ground where drops of Christ’s sweat fell as He suffered on the cross. They are a bittersweet reminder of His sacrifice for us.
But in spite everything that may be going on in the world around us, we all have so much to be thankful for. No matter how hard our lives may become, no matter our challenges – they are nothing compared to the suffering Jesus endured on the cross so that we may have everlasting life.
As you celebrate the season with friends and family, perhaps even with little ones searching for the Easter bunny or his colorful Easter eggs, let us never forget the true meaning of the season.
Looking for some spiritual hymns to honor the season? Here are 3 songs that reinforce why we celebrate Easter. They are my personal favorite Easter hymns that I grew up with and still love to this day. You can find them by various artists and choirs on YouTube:
Christ The Lord Is Risen Today: Penned by Charles Wesley in the 1730’s, it was written for the celebration of Easter. It’s a strong and triumphant song of victory over death.
Up From The Grave He Arose (also known as: Christ Arose and Low In the Grave He Lay): Written by Robert Lowry in the 1800’s – its jubilant proclamation of Christ rising up from the grave in defiance of death.
The Old Rugged Cross: So solemn and heart-wrenching, yet providing us with hope…”I will cling to the old rugged Cross and exchange it some day for a crown.” A song of pain and freedom. Written by George Bennard in the early 1900’s.
