Working Out With God
All of us want to stay healthy – and if you’re like most of us, you probably want to drop a few pounds. But we all know that just “wanting” to stay healthy isn’t going to happen by itself – we have to take action to make it happen.
Many folks, especially when the new year rolls around, buy exercise equipment or sign up for gyms and health clubs. But within a few weeks or months – they stop going to the gym or health clubs and their exercise equipment sits idle. After all, having the equipment or just being a “member” isn’t going to help them — they actually have to “go” to the club or gym and “use” the equipment to reap the benefits! Good intentions, but often waning results.
It’s the same when it comes to God. We can’t just pray that things will happen, we must work with God to help make them happen. Just as the gym provides exercise equipment to help us reach our goals, God gives us all His spiritual equipment in the form of His subtle guidance and direction. He is our ultimate personal trainer and life coach! And very much like a coach or trainer, if you don’t follow through with His advice, you just aren’t going to get results you are praying for.
Yes, working out with God is like working out at the gym — it should be done on a regular basis. While exercise will keep us physically sound, God’s love and guidance will keep us grounded and focused as we travel life’s journey.
Having both physical health and spiritual well-being is a win-win for everyone. So go ahead, start your day by working out with God. Begin your workout with a prayer of thanks for all your blessings – it’s a great exercise and will help put you in a good frame of mind.
