Seasons and Reasons To Rejoice
Spring and Easter are extra special times of the year. It’s no coincidence that Spring Season and Easter Season intersect.
Both seasons have a lot in common. Both seasons represent new beginnings, rebirth and a “freshness” that only these two seasons can bring.
Spring represents a clean start from winter, offering a feast of greenery and a colorful palette of colors to feed our hungry eyes after the dullness of winter. With spring comes the budding of trees and flowers suddenly bursting into bloom. Birds are flitting around busily gathering twigs to make their nests. In a few weeks, newborn baby birds will be popping their heads up for the first time, taking an inquisitive look at what’s outside in their “real” world.
Easter also represents a fresh start, bringing a newness in the air and a time for us to rejoice and celebrate our Lord Jesus Christ who sacrificed His own life and endured an agonizing death so that we will have everlasting life. Our sins are washed away. As Christ rose and was reborn, we are reborn through Him. For many of us, old-time Easter hymns come to mind (see the post,: Our Bill is Paid in Full) and Easter Lilies in honor of the season hit the stores. In the Bible, the white lily symbolizes purity, rebirth and new beginnings — often associated with the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
In April we find both the Spring season and Easter season quietly merging together – as they should. Take some quality time to spend with the glory of nature. It can be in a park or even in your own backyard – chances are it won’t take you long to find that special outdoor spot. If you can’t get outside, find a special spot in your home – perhaps near a window where you witness firsthand, the transition of winter to spring.
Then enjoy the “newness” of Spring. Feel that special snap of “freshness” in the air. Inhale the smell of “rebirth.” Think about Easter and its true meaning. Take some time to privately celebrate – to rejoice. It can be vocal – it can be quiet – it can even be a simple happy song. Then reach out to God and thank Him for giving us His only son, Jesus Christ – the reason why Easter Season has become so special to so many people.
The magnificence of Spring is truly a gift from God, just as Jesus Christ was His ultimate gift to us. Let us be thankful for each and every day. Celebrate and Rejoice. HAPPY EASTER.
