Fast Forward: Memorial Day
With the pandemic slowly subsiding here in the United States, most of us are looking back to this time last year and breathing a sigh of relief – what a difference. This year we are thankfully “going forward” instead of backwards and just in time to enjoy the summer.
Memorial Day has always been the unofficial start of summer. And while most folks are making plans for bar-b-ques, cookouts, beach travels, etc., let us not forget that Memorial Day still remains a solemn holiday to honor those brave men and women who gave up their lives to proudly serve our country. Where would we be without them today?
Even during the pandemic, our military was there to help with our vaccine programs and other events critical to our well-being here in the U.S. They have always, without hesitation, “stepped up to the plate” to keep us safe.
Whether you are enjoying a relaxing long weekend at home or celebrating somewhere with friends and family, please take a moment to remember those military personnel who sacrificed so much for “US” – for our country. And appropriately so, “US” is also the abbreviation for our United States (U.S.). Many of our heroes paid the ultimate price, willingly giving up their lives for “US” – for people they never met – didn’t even know. For those who have come back wounded physically and mentally, we salute their courage to go forward. We can never repay our military men and women, who gave of themselves to protect “US.”
This Memorial Day take a moment to say a prayer in memory of all those who have fallen in wartime and combat. Pray for those heroes who were able to come back home after serving our country, that they may stay safe. Also, remember those good people in your own life who have given so much of themselves to make you a better person, for they are your personal heroes.
It has been a rough ride for so many folks that have been hurt by the pandemic. Now as we see the light at the end of the tunnel, it is time to go forward. But just as important, let us bow our heads in a moment of silence as we remember our military personnel and other heroes over the years who have sacrificed so much for “us.”
Proudly fly our flag to show your support of all our heroes from the past, present and future – may God bless them all – God bless America.
