Easy Party Favors
Want to get a jump on easy Halloween or other party favors? Here’s an easy idea:
Check out your local dollar store, craft store or party store to convert an inexpensive white box to a fast and simple party favor. I went to the dollar store bridal shower section and found a pack of 12 of these flat cardboard boxes for a buck. These were the perfect size measuring 3” across and 4 ¾” inches from the bottom to top of handle.
- Cut out squares of scrapbook paper. I left ¼” white border around scrapbook square. Use a white glue or rubber cement to affix one square on front of box and one square on back of box.
- Fill with assorted treats.
- Top the box with a snip of shiny garland. Instead of garland you can also use black Easter-type straw, artificial black flowers or leaves.
Treat suggestions: For adults, I individually plastic wrapped a store bought Halloween cookie, mini pumpkin cake and an individually sealed gourmet chocolate square. For kids, the stores are loaded with all kinds of bulk Halloween candy, plastic spiders, skeleton rings, etc.
You can buy orange or black cardboard boxes, but they are not always easy to find and generally cost more than white. You can almost always find basic white boxes in assorted colors and sizes. You can apply these same basic principles to birthday party favors or favors for other occasions. Just find bright colored garland (at most hobby and dollar stores) or straw for the topping. If you have heavy gauge wrapping paper with a festive design, this will work in place of scrapbook paper.
So go ahead, scare up some easy Halloween party favors – your guests will be glad you did!
